Newspapers don't die -- they just get funny. Or at least that's what NBC is hoping for as it rounds out the top cast members for its Matthew Broderick comedy pilot "Beach Lane."According to a report in Variety, the network has added comedian Patton Oswalt ('Ratatouille') and '3rd Rock From the Sun's' Kristen Johnston to the show, which revolves around a millionaire (Oswalt) who hires a celebrity author (Broderick) to help his struggling newspaper in the Hamptons.

Oswalt has had quite a TV career of late, with stints on 'Reno 911,' 'Dollhouse,' 'Caprica' and 'United States of Tara.' His recent Broadway debut -- in 'Lips Together, Teeth Apart' -- was cancelled when the play was axed after co-star Megan Mullally dropped out, freeing up Oswalt for the series.
Johnston, on the other hand, has had a rocky road since her extra-terrestrial days on '3rd Rock'; 'Beach Lane,' if a hit, would give a boost to her career. Johnston's role has not yet been announced, but we hope that it gives her a chance to strut her stuff.
