Carla Gugino Becomes David Duchovny's Latest 'Californication' Love

When last we saw 'Californication's' Hank Moody (David Duchovny), he was being hauled off to jail after a fight with love Karen that spilled out into the street. So it's no surprise that when the Showtime series returns for its fourth season later this year, Hank will have a new love interest.

Carla Gugino, last seen in primetime as Vincent Chase's agent-turned-girlfriend on 'Entourage,' has signed on for a 10-episode stint in season 4, in which she'll play a "likable corporate attorney," according to Deadline.

Meanwhile, 'Cashmere Mafia' actress Addison Timlin will also join the show next season, playing an actress who stars in the film-within-the-series, for eight episodes. When last we saw 'Californication's' Hank Moody (David Duchovny), he was being hauled off to jail after a fight with love Karen that spilled out into the street. As for season 4 plotlines, Deadline reports that much of it will revolve around Hank's legal woes stemming from his arrest in the season 3 finale. He'll also deal with the fallout of admitting to Karen (Natascha McElhone) that he had sex with the underage Mia (Madeline Zima), the daughter of Karen's ex-fiancée.

Duchovny, who stars with Demi Moore in the new big-screen drama 'The Joneses,' says the new season (which begins filming Apr. 19 for a Sept. 2010 premiere) is going to be filled with "some legal maneuvering" and "Hollywood stuff."

"And the end of last year ... not a comedy. The end of last year was dark and sad and in jail," the actor, who turns 50 in August, tells Moviefone. "So the beginning of this year is there. And if last year was kind of this roller coaster down into the pit, this year ... got to come back up, because it is a comedy. And it's all about the ups and downs. This year there's going to be some legal maneuvering and there's going to be some Hollywood stuff. There is going to be some movie-making."
