Perhaps taking a beat from other shows in its lineup -- such as 'Jail' and 'Real Vice Cops Uncut' -- MTV Networks' Spike TV has greenlighted a new scripted pilot called 'Playing With Guns.'

The buddy cop comedy stars 'That '70s Show's' Danny Masterson and Joey Kern ('Super Troopers') as Kelly and Siff, two childhood buddies and slackers who become cops in their suburban hometown so they can hang out together, run red lights and brandish firearms. Their mission: to take full advantage of the benefit of their badges while doing the least amount of police work as possible.Perhaps taking a beat from other shows in its lineup -- such as 'Jail' and 'Real Vice Cops Uncut' -- MTV Networks' Spike TV has greenlighted a new scripted pilot called 'Playing With Guns.'

The show is produced by Varsity Pictures and Lionsgate -- the folks behind Spike TV's scripted college football series 'Blue Mountain State.' Varsity Pictures' Brian Robbins ('Head of the Class,' 'Varsity Blues'), a producer on the show, will also direct the pilot.

'Playing With Guns' will begin shooting on location in and around Wilmington, N.C., later this month.
