Patton Oswalt Leaving 'Beach Lane' Already?

Seems as though Patton Oswalt can't get a break anywhere these days.

First, the comedian and actor ('The King of Queens,' 'Ratatouille,' 'Big Fan') had his bid for a Broadway debut shelved after a staged revival of Terrence McNally's 'Lips Together, Teeth Apart' fell apart.

And now, just days after the news that he and Kristen Johnston ('3rd Rock From the Sun') were ushered on board the Matthew Broderick comedy 'Beach Lane,' the Hollywood Reporter is saying Oswalt may be out of that show as well.Seems as though Patton Oswalt can't get a break anywhere these days.

First, the comedian and actor ('The King of Queens,' 'Ratatouille,' 'Big Fan') had his bid for a Broadway debut shelved after a staged revival of Terrence McNally's 'Lips Together, Teeth Apart' fell apart.

And now, just days after the news that he and Kristen Johnston ('3rd Rock From the Sun') were ushered on board the Matthew Broderick comedy 'Beach Lane,' the Hollywood Reporter is saying Oswalt may be out of that show as well.

Oswalt was supposed to be co-starring in the NBC pilot (created by Paul Simms of 'NewsRadio') as a Hamptons millionaire who hires a celebrity author (Broderick) to help bolster his struggling newspaper. According to the Hollywood Reporter, however, Oswalt was taken off of that part after a table read on Tuesday.

A source in the report said the show's producers (which include 'SNL's Lorne Michaels and '30 Rock's Marci Klein) have offered Oswalt another part in the series, though the article said it was "unclear" whether or not the actor would accept it.
