'Dancing with the Stars' - 'Performance #4 Results' Recap

by Michael Pascua, posted Apr 20th 2010 10:00PM
(S10E09) There was a really uneven results episode of 'Dancing with the Stars' this week. While the first half of the show was filled with performances and musical guests, the second half dragged on forever.

With only eight contestants left, each couple was paired up to have their news delivered. Unfortunately, the show still managed to use the term "still in jeopardy" as a way to reveal nothing and waste my time. The eliminations start with Nicole & Derek and Kate & Tony. Nicole & Derek are safe; Kate & Tony are in the bottom two.

Encore - Jake & Chelsie's Cha-Cha - The second time around, Jake had a bit more trouble with his pants; along with that, he was just a bit off the whole time. To make it more interesting, Chelsie's boob attempted to fly out at every possible turn. It was funny: If you looked at the judges panel, Bruno looked really bored, boob and all.

Musical Guest - Maxwell, 'Fist Full of Tears' - We're treated to a dance routine by two of our non-normal dancers. The two channel a lot more contemporary spins and turns than any specific genre of dance. The two had no fear as she was tossed around the floor.

The next two couples are up, Chad & Cheryl and Niecy & Louis. Niecy & Louis are safe and Niecy shakes every giggly part possible. They decide to leave Chad & Cheryl in limbo.

Adam Corolla's Between the Mirrorballs - Adam's jokes and comments are lukewarm. I cracked a smile when he made fun of Bruno and Kate, but it fell flat overall.

Macy's Stars of Dance - A Tribute to the Movies - Four movies are given a tribute even though there are hundreds of better movies with memorable dance sequences. My biggest gripe was the lack of transition between the dances. While I thought the 'Austin Powers' section was good, did the one dance sequence in that movie really deserve to stand next to 'Saturday Night Fever'? Also the reenactment from 'Fame' seemed odd because the remake only did moderately well in the movie theaters and was pimped by 'So You Think You Can Dance' last summer.

Musical Guest - Debi Nova, 'Drummer Boy' - There's something really crazy about the expression that Debi had the whole time. It always looks like Tony is having the most fun when he's not dancing with Kate. Debi genuinely looked like she had a great time for her first U.S. TV debut.

Evan & Anna and Jake & Chelsie are the next two couples and while Evan & Anna are safe, Jake & Chelsie have to wait. After another commercial Erin & Maks are safe and Pam & Damian are in jeopardy.

We get yet another recap for no reason. The last three couples' fates are revealed. Jake & Chelsie and Chad & Cheryl are safe. Cheryl couldn't hear any of the results and stood confused for a few seconds; ironically the show gave Chad the opportunity to make the mistake of hugging Jake first. The bottom two are Kate & Tony and Pam & Damian. Carrie Ann congratulates her determination. Bruno loved how Pamela portrayed a character. The couple that was eliminated: Kate & Tony.

Kate is in tears and at a loss for words. Tony was very positive about Kate. Kate does her best to thank everybody and keep a positive attitude. She gives her kids a shout out and the screen fades to 'Lost.'

I'm happy that Kate lasted this long, but like all gimmick celebrities, she was on borrowed time. After you saw her lack of potential, it was more funny than anything else.

Next week is the swing marathon and the contestants get to design costumes for the dances, which several mentioned would include Sambas.

Are you happy that Kate was eliminated? Will you still watch this season? Leave comments below.

I don't know why Pam keeps ending up in the bottom two. She is a little annoying when they interview her but if that was the basis for staying or going, Chad would be long gone! She's ditsy but she has been dancing fairly well and she does portray her characters very well. There are others worse than her... Back to Chad -- please make him go away!!!

Thank goodness Kate was eliminated! It was painful and embarassing to watch her on the dance floor. Enough already. Chad should go next- he looks too stiff on the dance floor.

As for Pam, I wonder if people still have the image of her and Tommy Lee in the their minds and that might be influencing her votes.

It doesn't help that Pam likes talking about "Doing it again, and again, and again." People either really like or really hate her seductive nature and by now she understands that. Her key is the fact that she can portray characters; if she does get the Argentine Tango next week, she will have to channel that passion she had in the Paso.

I feel that Kate is a Winner! If she wouldn't have tried then she would have lost! Whenever we try and do our best then we are a winner no matter what! We always learn from every experience and I am sure this was true for Kate. For someone who likes to control things, God puts us in situations to learn that we don't have control!
We are all a work in progress and I am sure Kate will take what she learned and use it the rest of her life! God Bless

I feel that Kate still came away a winner! If she hadn't tried then she would have lost. Whenever anyone tries to do their best they are a winner no matter what!

I think Tom Bergeron and his new partner have something going on. They are always touching and standing alot closer than his other partner did. They really act like it.

I didn't see that Kate really tried all that hard at all. She seemed to always have an excuse as to why she couldn't rehearse. Poor Tony had to listen every rehearsal to her whining questions over every step. She complained of her lack of sleep, yet she was on just about every morning show schlepping her book while this show was going on. She is a fame hog dragging her 15 minutes out over and over while her round-the-clock nannies raise her kids. And she'll go from this to two new shows in the works. It's a life she's chosen for the money and the fame. I agree with Marta, Kate has no idea what a tough life as a single mom is.

Buzz should have been first to go, and then Kate. It's too bad that because of the call in voting, this turns into more of a personality contest than a dance contest. I think there should be another show for old dancers. Cloris and Buzz took up a spot where someone who had a chance might have been. They were both nothing but annoying to watch!

I sware when Kate and Tony were first announced to be in the bottom two, that it was the first genuine smile from Tony all season.

I love this show! I am a dancer as well. I enjoy watching all the amazing footwork, dance costumes, variety of dances etc... confidence, keeping awesome body frame and of course knowing how to dance the steps and moves with your partner are essential to winning. However, Kate did try her best but just doesn't have what it takes. Unless you have tried all these dance genres yourselves then please don't be too critical. Every dancer has been there. I feel for you Kate. Tony you were a wonderful dance partner for Kate and I'm sure she will always love dancing, thanks to you. Isn't this what this show is suppose to be all about.
