Never underestimate the power of family -- or that of a cranky man.

NBC has renewed 'Parenthood' for a second season following a surprising ratings performance on a crowded Tuesday night, opposite such heavyweights as CBS' 'The Good Wife.'

Meanwhile, HBO and star Larry David also announced today that 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' will be back for an eighth season.

'Parenthood' follows three generations of the Braverman clan, each family on a different course. 'Curb' follows the (mis?)adventures of Larry David as himself.
