Sean Young Joins 'The Young and the Restless'

sean_young_dga_awards_2009File this under another daytime TV shocker: According to PEOPLE, actress Sean Young ('Blade Runner') will make her daytime debut on the longrunning CBS soap 'The Young and the Restless.' She'll play Meggie, a "sultry barmaid" who becomes involved with Victor Newman, played by her 'Man Who Came Back' co-star, Eric Braeden. Young's role is set to tape in May.

Young is one of two A-listers taping next month: As we previously reported, 'Baywatch' alum David Hasselhoff will make a brief cameo return as Dr. William "Snapper" Foster, Jr., though his role will not overlap with Young's.

"Getting the chance to work with my dear friend Eric Braeden, one of the true gentlemen in entertainment, was certainly a deciding factor for me as well as wanting to get back to work after taking a few years off to raise my kids," Young said, according to PEOPLE.
As of now, Victor has been arrested for the murder of his son, Adam, but that doesn't mean he killed him; his other son, Nick, is also under arrest, even though Victor has since confessed to the murder. What may be afoot is a longer story arc, in which we're going to find out that Adam faked his death. Perhaps Meggie is someone who's connected to Adam in some way? For now, we can only speculate.

Whatever the plot, Young's appearance on 'Young' is another daytime coup. Big names have been dropping into soaps with some regularity. In recent weeks, Julianne Moore did a cameo on 'As the World Turns' and Michael Nouri is soon to be on air on 'All My Children.'

Young's role begins in mid-June.

James Woods himself admitted that all of the crazy actions were the work of his fiancee, who was paranoid about Sean Young and believed they were having an affair. Sean Young did not do any of the things she was accused of. She is known to have had alchohol issues and to say politically incorrect things but that is not exactly shocking for an actor. I am looking forward to seeing her on the show - she is talented and should have great chemistry with Eric Braeden!

I am very excited that Sean Young is joining Y and R. I enjoy her acting style, and find her screen presense to be unique and captivating. She is a talent who has been greatly underutilized. She does not deserve the bad reputation that she has. Much of the stuff that's said about her is not true, or manipulated. She has been misrepresented and misunderstood for many years. I am glad that she is being given the chance to shine again. She will be an asset to the show.

I think it's great! Soaps are kind of a dying format for entertainment, and adding Sean Young to the cast might give Y & R a shot in the arm. I think she'll bring something new, and classy, to the table. I wish her luck. She deserves a chance.

Vail Bloom will be missed on The Young and The Restless.
She was smart to leave a show with poorly written
plots and long drawn out story lines. The show is poorly
produced. It suffers from poor production values.
CBS should revamp it, or cancel it.

Why do producers and writers never listen to the fans? We do not care who is coming, clean up this double Lauren, double Patty storyline, Young & Restless was built on family, love, strong women and of course betrayal, lies and sex.Now there is plastic surgery done on characters every year, only the children have been spared this boring
plot(?) twist, it is tired and very lazy.

I agree! I'm so sick and tired of "evil" prevailing. The writers for Y&R need to be replaced with someone that cares about what the viewers are saying.

If your ratings go down. Talk to your writers.

They are killing our interest in watching the show...

Isn't Sean Young the actress who was involved with James Woods years ago and hung a dead cat on his porch when he broke it off with her and she stalked him and made his life miserable cause she had really lost it? Not interested in watching a loon!

(Executive Producer) Paul Rauch + Legendarily unstable actress = Possible Epic Fail and Death Knell to show.

Just surmising based on what we know of the parties involved. This is gonna be interesting.

She is a former A-Lister. Hasselhoff was never an A-Lister. It still is somewhat shocking that she's doing this.
