Shannen Doherty was the first dancer kicked off this season, while legendary American space hero Buzz Aldrin also recently ended his valiant effort. And ratings for this season have been unusually high to begin with, thanks in part to the presence of gossip queens like Gosselin, Doherty and Pamela Anderson, meaning the ratings drop may simply reflect the fact that the curiosity factor is wearing off, leaving mainly core 'DWTS' fans instead.

Still, there's no denying the effect that stunt casting like Gosselin has had on the series. Earlier this season, 'Dancing With the Stars' became the first show to top 'American Idol' in the ratings in six years.

Gosselin will next test her star power with her newest reality series, 'Twist of Kate,' which is set to debut on TLC this summer.
