'Downtown Girls' Trailer: Meet the Ladies

Shallon LesterWhat do you get when you mix 'The Hills' with 'Sex and the City' and water it down? Pretty much MTV's 'Downtown Girls' (Tue., June 1, 11PM ET).

The latest reality offering from MTV follows Shallon Lester (pictured), a blogger for Glamour.com, and her friends, Nikki, Gurj, Klo and Victoria. Each girl has her reality show role. There's Nikki, the rich girl and boutique owner, Gurj, a digital marketer at Atlantic Records, Klo, the bride-to-be and "wiser one," Victoria, the "ditzy one" and aspiring lawyer, and Shallon, the leader of the pack, the Carrie Bradshaw if you will.

Check out the trailer below. However, this is fair warning: your brain may hurt afterward.

"When you live in the city that never sleeps, you always feel like you're in pursuit of something more, something bigger, something faster, something more exciting ... " That's Shallon's opening introduction from the trailer, yet somehow we don't think 'Downtown Girls' will deliver even a sliver of that.

Years of reality TV have taught people how to act, how to be their predetermined TV character. Heidi and Spencer raised the crazy bar on 'The Hills,' and from the looks of it these girls will do their best to be memorable in their own way, but probably not succeed. Who would take legal advice from aspiring attorney Victoria whose introduction video has her rhyming words like traditional and medicinal with a glass of wine nearby? Yeah, no thanks.

Who knows, this should could deliver. Stranger things have happened in the world of TV.

Could this be another hit reality franchise for MTV?
