Steve Carell to Leave 'The Office' After Season 7?

Next season of 'The Office' may be Steve Carell's last. Yep, seven years as Michael Scott may be the limit for the Golden Globe-winning star.During an interview with BBC Radio (audio here) about his new flick, 'Date Night,' Carell said that he is only contracted through next season. When asked by the interviewer if he would renew his contract, Carell said, "I don't think so. I think that will probably be my last year."
According to OfficeTally, most of the other 'Office' stars are contracted for an eighth season.
Carell's answer is certainly vague, but not altogether surprising, considering how well his movies have performed in the past few years. Ratings for 'The Office,' meanwhile, have been average at best; last week's episode hit a season-low, with 6.4 million viewers total.
Could Carell make movies his full-time career? 'Date Night' is just one of three films starring either Carell or his voice that will hit screens this summer. Look for 'Despicable Me' and 'Dinner for Schmucks' to hit theaters in July.
