'Fringe' Musical Episode: The Cast Sings! Dances!

by Kelly Woo, posted Apr 29th 2010 11:00AM
'Fringe: The Musical'? Gotta be a joke, right? Even star Jasika Nicole couldn't believe it when she got a script that had singing and dancing. Nicole and her fellow castmates had "joked about it a lot," she told TV Squad on the Vancouver set a few weeks ago. " I didn't think it was really going to happen!"

Oh, it's happening. Tonight's 'Fringe' installment, 'Brown Betty,' features the entire cast in musical performances. It's all part of "Fox Rocks," a week in which the network's shows incorporate music into their episodes. The spooky 'Fringe' might seem the least likely of all Fox's shows to turn into a musical -- but not when you think about how loony-tunes Walter Bishop (John Noble) can be.

Watch our video Q&A with stars Nicole, Lance Reddick and Blair Brown to get the scoop.

Considering this is all just a story coming from Walter's overdruged brain, I can't see how this will be jumping the shark. Sure, it could suck, but it's not like a MoTW is making them sing like in Buffy.

Walter's just crazy, no real surprise there.

Aw, come on, guys- this could be fun! The muscial episode of Buffy was one of my faves, and had a perfectly plausible (in the Buffyverse, anyway) explanation. I think the bedtime story angle for Fringe sounds neat, and I love the black and white noir scenes from the clip.
