The Disney Channel is puckering up for what the network hopes is another 'High School Musical'-type franchise: 'Lemonade Mouth,' an original movie based on a novel about five Rhode Island high school students who meet in detention and decide to form a garage band.

Casting for the project, which is based on the 2007 young adult novel by Mark Peter Hughes, is now underway, with Disney hoping for a 2011 release date, according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter.

Emmy-nominated producer Debra Martin Chase, who produced the network's musical movie franchise "The Cheetah Girls" as well as "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and "The Princess Diaries," will oversee the project at Disney. April Blair, who wrote 2007's 'Christmas Caper,' is working on the script.

Disney is looking to keep up its winning streak with musical franchises: 'High School Musical' and 'High School Musical 2' have grabbed impressive figures on TV, while 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' pulled in more than $90 million at the box office. Next up was 2008's 'Camp Rock,' which has spawned 'Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam,' due this September.

The sound of this music is money to Disney's ears: in addition to the TV and movie revenues, soundtracks from the Disney Channel original movies have sold 27 million discs worldwide, according to The Reporter. Rock on!
