Naomi Campbell broke down on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated) when her mother talked about "abandoning" her.

Valerie Morris, Campbell's mother, "abandoned" her at a young age. Morris was 19 years old and a single mom when Campbell was born, and she wanted the best for her daughter.


She was ballet dancer and left Campbell with a nanny while she traveled across Europe with a dance troupe, "to work to give her a better life."

Looking back, she said, one realizes that material possessions aren't the only things that a child needs. "Sometimes a child needs its biological mother."
