Julianne Hough Waltzing Back to 'Dancing With the Stars'?

by Kim Potts, posted May 4th 2010 9:10AM
She's been MIA the last two seasons, but Access Hollywood reports that two-time 'Dancing With the Stars' professional champ Julianne Hough will be returning to the reality series next season.

Hough, who left the show to pursue her career as a country music singer, last appeared on the show in season 8, when her dance partner was also her real-life partner, country singer Chuck Wicks. Hough and Wicks broke up shortly after they were voted off the show in the eighth week of the season 8 competition.

Access Hollywood reports that she'll return for season 11 next fall, despite the fact that she's also releasing her second album in the fourth quarter of 2010, and starring in her first major film, 'Burlesque,' a November 2010 drama in which she plays a dancer. The movie co-stars Cher, Christina Aguilera, Kristin Bell, Stanley Tucci, Eric Dane, Cam Gigandet, Alan Cumming and 'Glee's' Dianna Agron.
Hough is also set to play the female lead in the upcoming 'Footloose' movie remake, but after both Zac Efron and 'Gossip Girl's' Chace Crawford dropped out as her co-star, the project remains in limbo.

As for her singing career, Hough's self-titled debut CD was released in May 2008, and landed atop the Billboard Country Albums chart. She's gone on to sell more than 300,000 copies of the disc and has toured with country superstar Brad Paisley in support of the CD.

And so far on 'DWTS,' Hough has won two mirrorball trophies: the first, with Olympic speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno in season 4, and the second with Indy 500 champion Helio Castroneves in season 5.

I don't think she should be allowed to knock somebody off the show to return. It was her decision to leave the show - why should somebody lose their job to accommodate her.

Julianne wouldn't be knocking anybody off if she returned. She just took a break. None of the pros -male or female - have been there every season, except Edyta Sliwinska. This time Karina Smirnoff, Kym Johnson, Lacey Schwimmer, to name a few, weren't there. People would rather see Julianne anyway, than some unknown pro dancer. JMO.

I think you got a word wrong there. It's not "despite" it is supposed to be "because". What better way to promote your new stuff then being on the top tv show week after week?
