Walton Goggins Promoted to 'Justified' Regular

The last episode of 'Justified' ended with criminal Boyd Crowder at large. Now, so is the guy who plays him.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Walton Goggins has been raised from guest star to series regular on FX's critically acclaimed series, which was just renewed for a second season.

"He's amazing, and he's just a great guy," 'Justified' executive producer Graham Yost told THR.com. "We knew with Boyd, going in, that who we cast was critical for the success of the pilot, therefore getting it to become a series. So Goggins' casting was really instrumental. Without him, we wouldn't be on the air."

Though Crowder himself nearly didn't make it past the pilot. The white supremacist from Harlan, Kentucky, was nearly killed by a shot to the chest by his old coal-mining buddy (and now Deputy U.S. Marshall) Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant). Crowder's since announced that he's amended his wrongdoing ways, and proclaimed himself a born-again Christian with an intent on saving souls.

And Goggins has made a name for himself by creating indelible characters, most notably as Det. Shane Vendrell on FX's 'The Shield.'

'Justified' airs Tuesdays at 10PM on FX.

I like Timothy Olyphant, but the REAL reason I tuned into Justified is Walton Goggins. Loved him on The Shield...he should have received an award for his performance on the final season, but didn't. Hopefully he'll do just as well, if not better on Justified.
