If you want a glimpse of summer -- TV style -- check out the new crossover promotion for the USA Network summer series, 'Burn Notice' and 'Royal Pains.' The shows return on Thursday, June 3, back to back at 9 PM and 10 PM.

Just the sight of 'Burn Notice's' Bruce Campbell as Sam Axe -- sucking down a mojito -- and 'Royal Pains' Paulo Costanzo as Evan Lawson -- hanging by the beach in the Hamptons -- was like a refreshing summer breeze off the Atlantic. These shows scream summer, don't you agree?

You have to hand it to USA for the inventiveness of their promotions. This one is especially clever, with Evan suggesting to Sam that he could market Michael Westen's Robin Hood espionage for the good folks of South Florida by branding them SPYAMI. Spies for hire! Watch and listen as Evan sees his vision for Sam and company plastered on coffee mugs and T-shirts and refrigerator magnets:




Did you catch Sam's reference to the canyons of Miami? Yes, right, we have mountains, too, down here. Miami, in case you didn't know, floods when it rains because it's so flat!

What really made this promo work so well is that it takes two of the funniest characters from these entertaining dramas and puts them in the same universe. It opens the door for a possible HankMed/SPYAMI crossover episode. Why not have Hank and Evan down in Miami for some medical issue, something that has them crossing paths with Michael, Fiona, Sam and Madeline. Sounds like it would be a royal flush, i.e. a winning hand.
