NBC Picks Up Three New Shows
NBC has said yes to three more shows for the 2010-2011 season, the Live Feed is reporting.First up is the high-concept drama 'The Event,' starring Jason Ritter as a man who, in an attempt to find his missing fiance, exposes one of the biggest cover-ups in American history.
Laura Innes ('ER'), Zeljko Ivanek ('Damages'), Sarah Roemer ('Disturbia') and Scott Patterson ('Gilmore Girls') co-star, with 'Dirty Sexy Money's' Blair Underwood set to play the U.S. President.
Also getting the greenlight are two new comedies: 'Outsourced,' about a Midwestern novelty company whose call center is outsourced to India, and 'Love Bites,' from writer-producer Cindy Chupak ('Sex and the City'). Becki Newton ('Ugly Betty') and Jordana Spiro ('My Boys') star in the hour-long comedy, about two single women whose friends have all gotten married.
Today's news is the fourth pickup this week for NBC. As we previously reported, the network gave the OK to 'Undercovers,' a new J.J. Abrams project, about a married couple who return to work for the CIA after years of retirement. Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw star.
