'Ghost Whisperer' - 'Blood Money' Recap
(S05E20) "Ghosts? Is that your specialty?" - Greg to MelindaI'm always surprised that no one in Grandview gossips about Melinda's gift so that it becomes somewhat common knowledge. After helping ghosts reconnect with their families for five years, one would expect that a few would have told their friends about Melinda's gift and helping them, no? Wouldn't you want to tell your friends how you got closure thanks to Melinda?
I can't wait to get a "Oh! You are that Melinda! I've heard about you!" Instead, we have to believe that everyone is able to keep Melinda's gift a secret. Then again, maybe some did gossip because rare are the people who say "WTF?!?! You can see ghosts!?!?" This week was no different.
Greg was a tad surprised when he connected the dots and discovered that Melinda could see ghosts. However, he quickly accepted the gift without questioning it. As for Colson, he didn't budge at all when Melinda flat out told him about her gift. Yes, Colson did quickly got proof of her gift when Melinda told him about the grave, but still, before she told him about the grave, Colson didn't show any surprise.
I would like to see a few more Grandview citizens refuse Melinda's help saying she is crazy and lying even after she gives them some proof. After all, not everyone believes in ghosts so they wouldn't be so accepting that quickly. I would also like to see the aftermath of Melinda helping ghosts. We never hear her tell the living she helps not to talk about her gift to others; therefore, it's more than likely that a few would talk. Can't we see that?
Those of you who enjoy horror movies -- I'm not one of them as I get scared too easily -- surely loved the first scenes were we see the three teens go through the woods, enter the barn and get spooked. The editing and sound effects really helped create a creepy mood for the viewers right from the start. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the episode due to that creepy introduction, as I was waiting for something to pop up out of the darkness at anytime!
I blame that mood setting for me not figuring it out when Henry's mother said that they cut off his money and that his friends were sons of cops. Then again, it allowed me to be surprised when it was revealed that Henry was in on his kidnapping and that Colson was the brains behind it. I thought that Colson was fishy from the start as he was too good to be true: accepting of Melinda's gift without questions, willing to let Melinda and Eli help him on the case, etc. However, I never thought he killed Henry.
Too bad for Eli and Melinda because, with Colson behind bars, they still don't have someone on their side at the precinct. And, according to Carl the Watcher, Melinda and co. will need all the help they need in the near future to face off the Shadows. That last scene with Melinda and Carl surely set the tone for the last two episodes of the season: Melinda facing the Shadows.
Do you agree that the show should have more people not believe Melinda can see ghosts and gossip about her gift when they get confirmation? How did you like this week's storyline with Jeff? What do your foresee for the last two episodes of the season? Share your two cents in comments below.
