Design the Album Cover for Mouse Rat, the 'Parks and Rec' House Band

Chris Pratt in 'Parks and Recreation' - 'Telethon'If I were April on 'Parks and Recreation' and I wanted to step up my game a little bit to get Andy to notice me, I would totally offer to design his album cover. Not only would it display how good of an artist I am, but it would show him how much I'm into his band -- and for a guy like Andy, I would imagine that that would go a pretty long way. If you want to win the affection of a fictional character or just show off your design skills on national TV, NBC is giving you the opportunity.

The network is holding a contest for viewers to design Mouse Rat's next album cover. Not only would you be designing the cover art, but you'd actually be naming the album itself; not an easy task for a band that has previously had such names as Department of Homeland Obscurity, Fiveskin and Jet Black Pope.

Entering the contest looks easy enough: Just go to NBC.com, and all of the official instructions are there. You can either register for an NBC.com account or login via Facebook. You don't even need to have PhotoShop in order to participate. They have a design tool online that gives you access to the Mouse Rat logo and some other band images.

The cynical among you may look at this as an effort by NBC to have its viewers do free design work for them, but this actually seems like a pretty fun contest. Granted, it's not for me, as my design skills are comparative with, say, a third grader whose dominant hand is in a cast, but I'm sure a lot of you out there have the ability to make up an album cover.

If you're planning on submitting your cover art, let me know in the comments -- also, what would you call their album?

As an aspiring graphic designer, I'm going to give this a shot. I love the show, and Andy is hilarious.

Don't know what I'll call it yet...
