Will.i.am Pays Off Mortgages for Two Families on 'Oprah' (VIDEO)

Angels come in all forms.

That's how Oprah Winfrey began a segment Monday on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated). Standing behind her were two sets of families deeply in debt. "Yours today is an angel who is a Grammy-winning superstar and the creative genius behind the Black Eyed Peas -- Will.i.am," she told them. Oprah then announced that one family owes over $250,000 on their house, the other about $100,000 ... and Will.i.am is going to pay off both their mortgages.

"I don't dream to be mega crazy rich, I just want to be able to create, make music and help people," he said.

Wow. Props to Will.i.am. This is the kind of thing I like to hear from the rich and famous. Meanwhile, Kanye, Jay-Z, etc continue to light their cuban cigars with $20 bills and sprinkle diamonds on their cereal. Of course this is not just isolated to the hip-hop community, but the fact that they flaunt their wealth while people's lives fall apart around them makes Will.i.am look like a justified saint. Is it a publicity stunt? Who knows, the fact is two families have a roof over their heads tonight. Maybe I shouldn't write off the human race just yet.
