Erin Andrews 'Moving On' After Elisabeth Hasselbeck Apology

by Michael Maloney, posted May 11th 2010 9:00AM
Erin AndrewsElisabeth Hasselbeck made a tearful apology for comments that she made about Erin Andrews' stalking ordeal on 'The View' last week. The talk-show host said that she had felt badly that her remarks about the man who intruded on Andrews' privacy had hurt her feelings. She recounted how her daughter, Grace, suggested to her mom that she call Andrews to say she was sorry.

Hasselbeck told viewers that she followed up on her daughter's suggestion. "Thankfully, I listened to her ... and I did," the former 'Survivor' contestant said on 'The View.' "I wanted to offer that publicly even though I did follow that advice."

Andrews, however, says she hasn't spoken to Hasselbeck. "I didn't speak with her," the sportscaster told a group of reporters on the post-show press line after Monday's 'Dancing With the Stars' performance.

As far as the sports reporter is concerned, however, it's a dead issue. "I've dealt with it," she says. "I'm moving on. It's a new week. I'm tired of talking about it."

It was, however, great to have the support of her dancer partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy and the rest of her 'DWTS' family during the brouhaha. "It was really nice to have Maks stick up for me," Andrews says. "It was nice to have the entire cast and a lot of the media [on my side]. We got a ton of support with it."

Does Andrews think that the media backed her because she's a member of the fourth estate? "No," she replies. "The media doesn't care if you're in the media ... Do you think the media has each other's back? [Elisabeth] is in the media."

"This season has been one big roller coaster with stuff happening every day," says Chmerkovskiy. "We actually have no clue what's happening [outside] because we're behind closed doors rehearsing."
