Sam Champion Has Surgery Live on 'Good Morning America' (VIDEO)

Sam Champion, weatherman on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC), underwent surgery live on camera.

Champion hasn't been secretive with his skin cancer battle, so it was no surprise he had his surgery broadcast across the nation. He even took to Twitter to help spread awareness about the dangers of sun damage and skin cancer.

" ... Go ahead and take that thing off, we might as well get rid of it," Champion said. "Oh, by the way, we are doing a little surgery, so you might not want to watch if you're a little bit squeamish ... I do not feel it at all ... one in five Americans will come down with skin cancer in their lifetime is the estimate right now."

That Sam, he's, well, he's quite a champion.
