'Bones' - 'The Boy with the Answer' Recap

Bones(S05E21) "I have a sense everything is changing." - Brennan

What a fantastic episode! I was glued to the TV while watching the Grave Digger trial unfold. So glued that I didn't even flipped channels to learn the score of the seventh hockey game between the Canadians and Penguins! Probably making me the only Quebecer who didn't watch the game that night! (Note: I live in Quebec and I watch 'Bones' on Wednesdays.)

This week's 'Bones' had all the right ingredients for a compelling episode: twists, turns, emotions, drama, mystery, and Caroline Julian.

What an episode it was! Heather is definitely the greatest adversary the gang has had to face thus far. She is not only very intelligent but she is one killer (pun intended) of a lawyer in the court room. It did seem at times that she would be set free thanks to the way she had evidence be discarded and conducted her interrogations.

But unlucky for her, Brennan and company are one hell of a fantastic team and were able to gather the needed evidence to put Heather behind bars. But for how long? As Heather told Brennan, "This isn't over" and I expect Heather to go to appeal and try to be set free. If it doesn't work, Heather may be powerful and crazy enough to convince someone to do her bad deeds out in the world.

This was a very important episode for Brennan as she let her emotions take over when she testified. She is right when saying that everything is changing, herself included, but it's not necessarily bad. I prefer sometimes emotional Brennan over only-facts-and-no-emotions Brennan. You?

The 'Bones' Powers That Be clearly set the tone for the next week's finale cliffhanger: it looks like Brennan will go away on a dig and may ponder not being part of Booth's team when and if she comes back. Of course, we all know that she'll eventually come back to the Jeffersonian and work with Booth. But when? Will the series make us wait of few episodes next season before Brennan and Booth are reunited?

As much as I loved this week's episode, Hodgins and Angela announcing they got married felt a bit flat. I get why they decided to wait but story-wise, it may have been best to wait at the beginning of next week's episode as this week's was emotional enough already.

What did you think of this week's 'Bones'? How do you think the Grave Digger's storyline will continue? Will Heather be released or will she have someone else do her deeds? Are you afraid that Brennan will quit working with Booth?

Gah. The only thing this episode did was remind me why Bones should never do courtroom episodes. While I know that they take certain shortcuts, you never have a trial going on while evidence is still being collected (and that was just one of the basic stupidities of the episode). It was stupid and took me right out of the drama.

What was the song from the end of the episode last night? It was such an acing episode and that song was the perfect way to end it, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Any ideas?

I liked the way Brennan looked out of the window as she drove away. It was almost like the scene in the episode "The Parts in the Sum of the Whole" (the 100th episode), after she and Booth first kissed and then she left in a taxi. She pulled away from Booth after the kiss, and she's pulling away from him now.

That's what I thought was going to happen. The cab would drive off but Brennen wouldn't get home. The cab was stolen and would be found abandoned.

I was expecting Heather to be driving the cab at the end. Would of been one hell of a cliffhanger!

Angela and Hodgins announcing their marriage didn't bother me, since we got that emotion last episode. Plus we have already seen the two get ready for a wedding before, they were just missing the "I do"s. I think their friends already looked at them as being "married".

Grats on the Canadians beating the Pens. Caps then the Pens? Impressive. (Go Sharks! :D)
