'Glory Daze' Has Not Passed TBS

Hey guys, remember the '80s? Back when rap was new, leg warmers were hot and the Cold War was cooling down? Well, for all of you who wish you could take a 'Hot Tub Time Machine' back to when Tim Meadows was a big star, TBS has just the show for you, as they are getting ready to try and recapture those 'Glory Daze.' Yes, according to Variety, TBS has given the greenlight to Hollywood's latest bit of nostalgic fun, 'Glory Daze,' "a college comedy about a group of friends in a 1980s Wisconsin school." And headlining this trip down memory lane is Meadows, who technically didn't hit it big until his1991 'Saturday Night Live' debut, but hey, close enough.
We're assuming that Meadows plays some sort of faculty member rather than the oldest student in world history, with the rest of his mostly unknown co-stars filling out the co-ed lineup (for what it's worth, those stars are Kelly Blatz, Matt Bush, Julianna Guill, Callard Harris, Hartley Sawyer and Drew Seeley). But while they may not be household names just yet, TBS programming honcho Michael Wright is confident they're the right people to bring the '80s to life.
"'Glory Daze' is a sharply written, laugh-out-loud comedy with a talented ensemble cast, including comic veteran Tim Meadows," Wright said. "The time is right for this feel-good, funny and fresh take on college life in the '80s."
How much of that good timing is due to the recent success of 80's time travel comedy 'Hot Tub Time Machine' is unclear, but it wouldn't be the first time that big screen nostalgia led to a small screen hit; the classic sitcom 'Happy Days' became a breakout sensation back in 1974 thanks in large part to a massive 50's revival movement kicked off by 'American Graffiti.'
So is Tim Meadows going to be the new Ron Howard? Time, as they say, will tell.
