by Chris Harnick, posted May 17th 2010 3:10PM
Criminal MindsCBS has officially picked up the much hyped 'Criminal Minds' spinoff starring Oscar winner Forest Whitaker.

Whitaker guest starred in an episode of 'Criminal Minds' last month to test the waters. According to the Live Feed, CBS was lukewarm to the pilot, but picked up the series anyway.

The spinoff joins new CBS shows such as 'Hawaii Five-0,' 'Defenders' and 'Blue Bloods.' A full report on those shows can be found here.

More details are expected on Wednesday when CBS has its presentation to advertisers.

A title for the spinoff has yet to be revealed.

Poor casting choices all around. Whittaker may be a good actor, however, having to look at his mug for an hour each week may be more than I can bear.

You know, if they replaced all of the actors on the spin off, it might actually have a chance of being better than the force-fed crap of the other stupid spinoff NCIS:LA and get better than a luke-warm reception. If they'd learn from Crap:LA and make the characters interesting (and not by trying to force out new issues each episode) and actually cast quality actors in the show. Also, the fact that all of these new characters are all "specialists" and the "best" doesn't mean that they're interesting or appealing. Hopefully they realize this.
