TV Casting: Vanessa Williams Joins 'Desperate Housewives' as Series Regular

Vanessa WilliamsWatch out, ladies of Wisteria Lane, because Wilhelmina Slater is coming to town. According to reports, 'Ugly Betty' alum Vanessa Williams is joining the cast of 'Desperate Housewives' season 7 as a series regular. "She'll be moving into the neighborhood next season to cause trouble in all the ladies' lives," said creator Marc Cherry, though she won't be at the forefront of next season's mystery. No word yet on Williams' premiere date. [TV Guide Magazine]

Olivia WildeOlivia Wilde will be checking out of 'House' for part of next season. The reason: Wilde is scheduled to shoot the sci-fi western 'Cowboys & Aliens' this summer, which will overlap with 'House''s production schedule for "at least two months." 'Cowboys & Aliens,' starring Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, hits theaters on Jul. 29, 2011. [Ausiello Files]

I read too fast. I thought that Betty White was joining the cast. I love Vanessa Williams., but Betty White would be a hoot on the show.

I hope her character is similar to Willi's! I never watched the DH show, but I will tune in to see Vanessa. I miss the characters on Ugly Betty. It was a refreshing show.
