'American Idol' Results May 19: Who's in the Top 2?

Who was voted off 'American Idol'? Casey James went home after singing 'Okay, It's Alright With Me' by Eric Hutchinson and 'Daughters' by John Mayer, which means Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze made the Top 2 and will compete in the finale. No doubt, James is pretty to look at and plays a mean guitar, but our biggest criticism is that he has a real problem connecting emotionally with his songs and the audience. And, while his voice is adequate enough, he's got an odd, trilling vibrato that leaves us cold. Voters, it seems, had their own issues with James as they voted him off over Bowersox and DeWyze Wednesday night.
Watch Casey's elimination after the jump.

Forgoing the usual group number, the three remaining contestants spoke to Ryan Seacrest about how their perspectives have changed over the season. Then, the show segued into homecoming segments beginning with James' return trip to Texas. James was greeted by throngs of screaming women, then made a trip to the hospital to thank the doctors and nurses who patched him up after a serious motorcycle accident six years ago.
Travis Garland gave the first performance of the evening after an intro by celebrity gossip monger Perez Hilton, who discovered the singer online. What we remember most from Garland's performance was his carefully-crafted bedhead. That's it.
Cameras then followed Bowersox back to her home in Toledo, Ohio where she was treated to a parade and sang at an event dubbed "Bowerstock." Judging by Bowersox' tears while recalling the trip with Seacrest, she was clearly moved.
When DeWyze made his trip back to Chicago, he threw the first pitch at a Cubs game, received a police escort to his old elementary school, where he spoke to the screaming student body, then was moved to tears after visiting the paint store where he once worked.
Teenage phenom Justin Bieber gave the final performance of the evening -- a medley of his singles 'U Smile' and 'Baby.' Credit goes to Bieber for banging out a short drum solo toward the end of his performance.
Finally, DeWyze and Bowersox were told they would be progressing to the final, leaving James as the odd man out. "I can't believe it, man," James said. "I'm so thankful for the opportunity and it's been an amazing, amazing journey and I'm just so honored that I'm here." James then reprised Mayer's 'Daughters,' and, with that, Kara DioGuardi's lustful fantasies came to an end.
