'Smallville' Will End Next Season

Tom WellingIt's a bird, it's a plane! Nope, it's just another TV show set to leave the small screen.

According to the Live Feed, the CW series 'Smallville' will officially end after next season, wrapping up an impressive 10 seasons on the air. The network is expected to make the official announcement at its upfront presentation on Thursday.

The story of Clark Kent's younger days (Tom Welling) has defied expectations after a move to Friday, averaging a stunning 2.35 million viewers this season.

In its prime, 'Smallville' averaged 6.30 million viewers.

Earlier today, Welling broke the news to Hollywood Life.

The show and its characters have a very dedicated fan base; some even went as far as to create a tribute commercial for Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) that aired on CW affiliates in Los Angeles and New York.

Meanwhile, in slightly happier news, the CW has also picked up a new reality series entitled 'Plain Jane.' According to the Hollywood Reporter, each episode of 'Plain Jane' will follow one girl as she is transformed with a new wardrobe, style tips and confidence-building exercises. Then, the young lady will go on a date with a crush who doesn't know she's interested in him.

'Plain Jane' will be executive produced by Allison Grodner, Rich Meehan and Pete Tartaglia. British fashion expert Louise Roe will serve as host.

Tell us: Do you want to see Clark put on the tights and fly in season 10?

Enough of the bait & switch, that's why the viewership went down, along with moving the show around in the schedule. The show owes the viewers to have Clark in the Fall to finally fly and to wear the suit by October. Everybody from Krypton flys on this show...immediately, except Clark. Why did the clone of Jor-El did not have same voice accent as the Fortress computer?
The idea of a movie would be great to keep the Smallville franchise going. Or Tom Welling could play the grown up son of Lois from "Superman Returns" passing the torch years into the future.

I have been a big fan since the show began. For the final season i agree he needs to be able to fly and have a updated version of the suit.I also agree they need to do a show with him meeting bruce wayne/batman for the first time and maybe introduce diana prince wonder woman and hal jordan green lantern to complete the JlA introductions that would be cool.

I remember reading an interview with the Producers during the 1st season saying that their ultimate goal was to have Clark meet a young Bruce Wayne but the legal powers that be at Warner Bros. wouldn't let them use the name due to Batman movies being in production. They also had legal issues involving Jor-El when the Superman Returns movie was in production. You would think that since they all are owned by the same company that everybody would find a way to work together.

I think Lex is going to come back for the last season because in the 2 hour Justice League special Clark was told he was going to go up against Lex again.

After watching since episode one and being a devoted fan im ready for him to become superman but i would like a "Superman" show spinoff. Christopher Nolan is suppose to Reboot the Superman franchise after the 2012 last Batman movie and thats to far away to hold the interest of the smallville cast. Make SUPERMAN a CW Series!

Hopefully they will bring back Lex and get rid of Chloe, the show will go out with much higher ratings if if they implement these changes. Also have American Actors play the characters, the actor that played Zod was a travesty.

Costume plus flight - YES!!!! If they can do this while altering the appearence of the red underwear, that would be awesomer. Let's get with the new era!!!!

Everyone else in the series wore their costumes. Everyone else in the series who was supposed to fly, flew. Somehow a Superman series without Superman was like doing Superman without the Kents. Oh, wait, you did that too!

Maybe you didn't expect the series to go on as long as it did, but ENOUGH TEASING!

I want to see the flights. I want to see the tights!

They just put in a hint that there will be a costume change. Martha left him a box. You could see blue cloth and the red and yellow shield. Don't know if its going to be tights, but at least they got the colors right.

I am glad Smallville is choosing to end while it is still doing quality episodes. CW is going to lose another great show - wow 10 seasons.
A another note, now the executives have a time slot to have another mindless reality show. I have an idea. A reality show about execitives trying to put the worst reality crap on TV. More important, Good luck actors from Smallville, you have made your peers proud and fans happy....
