MTV Orders 'Teen Wolf' Series

MTV has picked up a new series based on Michael J. Fox's '80s comedy 'Teen Wolf.' The cable network has given the update, which will be less comedic in tone than the goofy 1985 flick, a 12-episode order, says the Hollywood Reporter.
Fresh faces Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O'Brien will star in the series, about a high school geek who gains supernatural powers after being attacked by a wolf.
The series will depart from the original film's story, which followed a young Michael J. Fox dealing with a family curse that made him a hairy hero to his high school basketball team. MTV's version will most likely have more in common with The CW's 'Vampire Diaries,' and, of course, the 'Twilight' series than with Michael J. Fox's breakdancing and beer can-biting antics from the movie. (Maybe they should call it 'Tween Wolf?')
'Teen Wolf' joins a revamp of British teen drama 'Skins' on MTV's new schedule.
