Alex LambertAlex Lambert finished in the Top 24 on this season of 'Idol.' Many viewers were shocked by his elimination and felt he'd gone too early -- enough to gain the attention of Simon Fuller, who offered Lambert a spot in the 'If I Can Dream' house.

'IICD,'
which airs 24/7 or in segments on Hulu.com, centers around a group of actors, musicians and models living together while honing their crafts and searching for fame.

Lambert, who joined
Something Pitchy's podcast last week, guest-blogged about attending the 'Idol' finale and what life has been like for him post-'Idol.'

It's been a month and a half since my run on 'American Idol' ended. Just enough time for me to be able to be there at last night's 'Idol' finale and really enjoy it without feeling too much regret.

A lot of great stars performed last night. A couple of the highlights for me, personally: I really liked Bret Michaels. I thought he was amazing, and his performance with Casey [James] was great. Janet Jackson was super hot, and it was so great to see her perform live. Also, the red carpet was legit! I got to meet a lot of people I've been dying to meet!Alex LambertAlex Lambert finished in the Top 24 on this season of 'Idol.' One thing that Simon Cowell said really stood out: During his goodbye speech, he said the most important judge of the 'American Idol' contestants isn't actually any one of the official judges -- it's the fans. That rang true for me. The fans changed my life and gave me a second chance. A fan petition to get me back onto 'Idol' got 20,000 singers, the attention of 19 Entertainment, and a chance to be part of 'If I Can Dream.' It's the perfect place for me to work on my development as a musician. Like Ellen DeGeneres said, I need to go from being green to being ripe, and this is the best place to do that.

Alex Lambert'If I Can Dream' has been a very different experience for me compared to 'American Idol.' With 'American Idol,' I was doing covers. I wasn't being judged on my own music, just my voice and my performance. One way I express my personality is through the music I create, so without that, it's more difficult to connect to the audience in such a short amount of time.

'American Idol' was also a lot more fast-paced. I had a week to pick a song, get it performance ready, and perform it. With 'If I Can Dream,' it's a lot more laid back. I can just be myself.

On 'American Idol' you're more isolated because of the nature of the show, but with 'If I Can Dream' I can interact with the fans on a whole new level, talking directly to them during tweet sessions and forming relationships with them on MySpace, Facebook and Twitter. They really get to know who I am as a person, as a singer, a songwriter and an artist. All of those things help connect me to the fans.

I'm a fan too, and it was fun to experience last night's Idol from a fan's perspective. If you've been watching me on 'If I Can Dream' or following my updates, you know that I've been pulling for Lee DeWyze ever since my run on 'Idol' ended. Seeing Lee win made me so happy -- I can't wait to see him Friday night at the 'IICD' house to congratulate him in person.
