The new series 'Police Women of Memphis' (Thu., 9PM ET on TLC) follows the real-life adventures of four female cops. These woman are putting their lives on the line on the mean streets of Memphis, Tennessee.[Spoiler alert.]
On the premiere episode, we are introduced to Officer Virginia Awkward -- who takes a lot of ribbing from the other cops for her extremely unusual last name. (Some of the jokes made at her expense: "How Awkward is that?" and "I know you feel Awkward.")
Still, Awkward proves herself to be a pretty fine police woman. First, she sees a suspicious car stopped in the middle of the street. After stopping the vehicle and detaining the suspects, she finds that the man has a huge bag of pot stuffed in his pants -- plus a gun in the car. The suspect tries this classic excuse to get out of trouble: "I didn't do nothing, okay?" But that's not going to work with Virginia. She's not so awkward, after all.
