Ex-Homeless Choir on 'America's Got Talent' (VIDEO)

It's the season premiere of 'America's Got Talent' (Tue., 8PM ET on NBC), and as is traditional, the judges have to watch a lot of bad acts. Among these is a celebrity impersonator ... who can't actually impersonate anyone. And then, we finally get see to the good stuff.[Spoiler alert.]
Part of the "good stuff" is a group called 'New Directions.' They are a choir made up of formerly homeless military veterans. The lead singer in the group (who is named Carlton) says that he was homeless for 25 years. Then -- a decade ago -- he found the singing group, and with their help he was able to turn his life around.
Carlton leads the choir in an amazing performance of 'Ol' Man River.' Their rendition of the song is so impressive that even hard-to-please judge Piers Morgan has something good to say. He calls the group "powerful, emotional and inspiring." We may be seeing a front-runner on 'America's Got Talent' already; so early on in the season. But the road is long, and we'll have to stay tuned to see if 'New Directions' can make it all the way to the finale.
