So it's time to name your champion of the '2010 Scripps National Spelling Bee' (Fri., 8PM ET on ABC). And your winner is ...[Spoiler alert.]
... Anamika Veeramani of North Royalton, Ohio! Anamika beat out 273 other young spellers to claim the crown. In order to win, she had to spell such words as "epiphysis," "juvia" and "stromuhr" -- which was the final word that won the game for her. We'd tell you what all these words mean, but we wouldn't want to spoil the fun of Googling them for yourself.
Oh, okay, we'll tell you. "Epiphysis" is a bone part in higher vertibrates. "Juvia" is a tree that produces Brazil nuts. And a "stromuhr" is a tool that measures blood flow through an artery.
Anamika won a cash prize of $30,000, and intends to spend part of the money on an iPad. She hopes one day to become a cardiovascular surgeon, which means that someday she may be using a "stromuhr" herself.
