Can the student defeat the master? That's the question on 'Lie to Me' (Mon., 8PM ET on Fox).

Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) meets with Helen Dezekis, his old mentor and ex-lover (played by Rowena King). Helen is a college professor, and so she invites Cal to come to her class. There, Cal meets Martin Walker, an intriguing young student (played by Jason Dohring). Since Cal is an expert in body language and is a master of detecting lies, he bets $200 that he can tell if Martin is lying. And then ... Cal fails.

Cal is unable to "read" Martin, and Martin turns out be a serial murderer. That's never good. Martin likes to kidnap young women, drown them via waterboarding, then bring them back to life by using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Then, he kills his victims for real.

Martin gets Cal in his clutches, drowns him, then revives him. He poses this question to Cal: "[Are] you ready to die ... again?" Will Cal survive? And more importantly, will he ever win his two hundred dollars back?
