Summer's installments of 'Flashpoint' (Fri., 9PM ET on CBS) started off with a bang -- literally -- with the police drama killing off a major character.
[Spoiler alert.]
The Toronto-based Strategic Response Unit had to defuse a bomb. As if things couldn't get worse -- and more tense -- Lewis stepped on a land mine in the middle of the task. Realizing what he'd done, he kept his foot firmly planted on the spot and alerted his teammates.
Spike had every intention of rescuing his friend from the situation. "We transfer the weight -- it's a good shot," he pleaded.
But Lew didn't want to risk killing them both. When Spike had walked away to set his weight-transfer idea in motion, Lew lifted his foot, triggering the land mine and making the ultimate sacrifice.
