Melissa Rycroft to Co-Host 'Bachelor' Spin Off
Melissa Rycroft's parents must've taught her that old "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade" adage, because she's pretty good at doing it.Even if you don't watch 'The Bachelor,' you'll recall that the former Dallas Cowboy cheerleader was proposed to and then unceremoniously dumped by Jason Mesnick in back-to-back episodes of the 13th installment. And, while suffering a humiliating public blow would be enough to send most women running as far from the spotlight as possible, the resilient Rycroft dusted off her ego and replaced an ailing Nancy O'Dell on 'Dancing with the Stars' (she and partner Tony Dovolani finished third) and even sidled up to Ryan Seacrest as a co-host of last year's 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve,'
Now, the 27 year-old will return to her 'Bachelor' roots as co-host, alongside Chris Harrison (who just hosted the Scripps Spelling Bee), of the new reality show 'Bachelor Pad.'
The new show, which debuts Aug. 9, 8PM on ABC, features contestants and suitors from past seasons of both 'The Bachelor' and 'The Bachelorette,' as they hole up in a mansion and compete for another chance at love. Oh, and $250,000.
Rycroft, who married long time beau, Tye Strickland last December, was named one of People magazine's Most Beautiful People in 2009.h
