ABC Replacing Almost Entire Cast of 'Edgar Floats' Pilot

by Mike Moody, posted Jun 15th 2010 11:20AM
tom cavanagh edgar floatsTom Cavanagh can't catch a break these days. First, his TNT series 'Trust Me' was yanked after one season, and now, ABC is replacing him as the lead in the upcoming drama pilot 'Edgar Floats.'

But Cavanagh isn't the only actor getting the boot from 'Life' creator Rand Ravich's upcoming character-driven procedural. The network has opted to replace almost everyone in the cast, including Alicia Witt, Derek Webster, Alex Solowitz and Raoul Trujillo, according to the Ausiello Files.

The only survivor? Robert "T-1000" Patrick, who can seemingly still dodge a bullet almost 20 years after 'Terminator 2.'

According to Ausiello's insider, the pilot is being completely re-conceived from the ground up; odd news considering ABC recently gave the project a six-episode script order.

Tough break, Tom. I guess you could always head back to Stuckeyville?

I watched the pilot as part of a focus group/research. I liked it, and I thought Tom really worked, as did Patrick. The concept was pretty good. Shame if they screw it up.

Well, there's one I'll take a pass on. Imagine how screwed up the whole prduction is if they can the whole cast. It's got to be desperate. Just flush it now and don't force it on us.

Maybe they should bring back Flash Forward instead of bringing new crap. That was a great show.

ABC ought to leave well enough, alone. It is losing viewership to other channels, including cable. It is surely losing its status as the number one channel, for sure!

Worked for ABC for 31 years, NBC for two. Loved both, long may both networks wave!

I've seen the pilot. Believe me, much as I like ABC, it is not the cast that is the problem. The show is not funny, and no amount of overhaul will fix it. Prediction? Gone in three.

I had a chance to work on a t.v. show a number of years ago. The show was funny during the initial rehearsals, but after the producers got through with it, the laughs were gone. The show was canceled a few episodes later. It makes you wonder how many great shows have been killed by thirty-somethings in suits with no clue about what's good.

A little of Tom Cavanaugh goes a long way.
