Coldplay Says Yes to 'Glee'

cold_play_music_standingIt seems amazing now, but when originally approached, Grammy-winning band Coldplay passed on letting 'Glee' using their music. Now, though, the band has re-considered, according to show co-creator Ryan Murphy.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter (via Reuters), Murphy revealed, "At the beginning, a lot of people didn't know what we were and asked to see pages (in advance), but I refused because I didn't want to set precedent of them having any involvement. My favorite rejection was Bryan Adams. Coldplay and Bryan Adams were really the only rejections. But Coldplay called a week ago and said, 'We're sorry, you can have our catalog.'"

In recent months, many artists have offered their catalogs to the award-winning Fox series, including the Beatles, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Neil Diamond.
And it's no wonder: Music from the show has experienced major success on the Billboard and iTunes charts. 'Glee: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers,' released in May, easily topped the Billboard 200 after selling over 130,000 copies in its first week of release.
