Stephen Colbert Announces Gulf Relief Effort Using Twitter (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Jun 17th 2010 4:00PM
Kudos to Stephen Colbert for finally discovering a useful application for Twitter.

On 'The Colbert Report' (weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central), Colbert announces that Comedy Central will donate money to cleaning up the Gulf of Mexico oil spill each time someone re-tweets a specific tweet by him.

After making the announcement, Colbert then tweets the following: "In honor of oil-soaked birds, 'tweets' are now 'gurgles.'"

One would think it'd be a wise move to link to either Colbert's twitter page, or the specific message, in an article like this.

So, one has to ask, why didn't you?
