The Best Dance Ever on 'So You Think You Can Dance' (VIDEO)

The Best Dance Ever on 'So You Think You Can Dance'We've moved on from the auditions and the contestant-selection portion of the show. Now, we're actually at the real competitive dancing section of 'So You Think You Can Dance' (Wed., 8PM ET on Fox). So, let's get right to it.

[Spoiler alert.]

The new format of the show pairs contestants with returning "All-Stars." And according to the judges, the best performance of the night was by Alex Wong, who showed his stuff along with All-Star Allison Holker. Alex's song choice was Jeff Buckley's version of 'Hallelujah' -- and the judges were amazed by what they saw.

Nigel Lythgoe said this to Alex: "I believe that you have just set a new standard for [the show]." Mia Michaels gushed about Mr. Wong as well, and gave this compliment: "I have to say that that is the best, hands-down ... piece of work danced on [this] stage anywhere, in the world." Whoa. Very high praise indeed! In fact, it's hard to get any praise-ier than that!

Do you think that the judges were right? And will their kudos go to Alex's head, or inspire him to further acts of greatness?

God, but I love this show. I do wish two things, though. I wish that they'd lose the fake-out when they're telling a contestant that they made it. ("I'm so sad to have to tell you this --- dramatic pause --- you're going to Vegas!") It's pointless and it's mean. And, I could sure do without the staged screams from the audience. They don't even come at the right times. Lose the forced enthusiasm. It's as lame as canned laugh tracks. The dancers and the show are plenty good without it.
