Thomas Dekker Lands Key Role in HBO's 'Cinema Verite'

thomas dekkerTV's former John Connor is traveling back in time to play a '70s teen in HBO's 'Cinema Verite.'

'Sarah Connor Chronicles' star Thomas Dekker has landed a supporting role in the TV movie, which goes behind the scenes of the pioneering '70s documentary 'An American Family,' according to the Hollywood Reporter. The doc was the first to depict a real-life American family struggling with problems like sexual identity and divorce.

Dekker joins a cast that includes Tim Robbins, James Gandolfini and Diane Lane. Robbins and Lane will play the mother and father of the family, and Dekker will play their son, who comes under fire after revealing that he is gay on camera.
Gandolfini will portray Craig Gilbert, the producer of the documentary.

Production on 'Cinema Verite' is scheduled to begin this summer in Los Angeles.

Dekker, who also had a memorable role in the first season of 'Heroes,' recently appeared in the 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' remake. He's rumored to be starring in another upcoming '80s update, this time taking on the Kevin Bacon role in a 'Footloose' redo.
