Eight TV Characters Who Should be Dads

In the years of TV Squad's existence, we have covered a number television dad categories for Father's Day. Including good dads, bad dads, single dads, cartoon dads, dads that should be women and TV dads that should be in porn. One thing we haven't covered is TV characters that actually should be dads, but aren't. Though nary a son or daughter among them -- that they know of -- there are a number of characters in various shows who would make better fathers than the already established patriarchs. In alphabetical order, here are a few potential dads of note.
Chuck Bartowski of 'Chuck' -- As fans of the show have learned over the years, family and those close to him come first in Chuck's life. In fact, he would do anything to protect those that he loves. On top of that, he's a computer geek who loves playing video games. Throw in the fact that he and Agent Sarah Walker would produce an intelligent and beautiful baby that could kick your ass, and Chuck has the makings of being a very good father.
Marshall Eriksen of 'How I Met Your Mother' -- Marshall was a tough one to consider for fatherhood. Though he had a somewhat violent childhood, has accidentally injured wife Lilly on two known occasions, and likes to play slap games, he's a good guy overall. Plus, he really, really wants to have a child! Let's just hope he decides against playing a round of Bask-Ice-Ball with his new son or daughter.
Jack Hodgins of 'Bones' -- When Jack uttered the words 'I'm your man' to Angela when she mistakenly thought she was pregnant, audience members knew that this Jeffersonian Squint was ready for fatherhood. Not only is he kind, funny, and able to support all of the child's expenses, but he has an advantage of spending a good time studying bugs, garbage and mud. Perfect for a son or tomboy girl.
Marshall Mann of 'In Plain Sight' -- If you're the partner of one U.S. Marshall Mary Shannon, you need the patience of all the saints to handle her bouts of anger, frustration, and not really giving a damn what other people say. Marshall Mann is that person.as, over the years, he has developed patience even greater than the ancient wise men of the snowy mountains. Taking the skills he learned with Mary he could certainly weather anything his teenage daughter would dish out.
Eric Murphy of 'Entourage' -- Devotion and encouragement to friend Vince as he worked his way up the Hollywood food chain makes Eric "E" Murphy a candidate to dadhood. With their heads full of dreams, Eric would be the one to stoke his children's imaginations and help them achieve their goals without asking for anything in return other than continued love. Frankly, I would want him as a father.
James Wilson of 'House' -- Here's the one reason why Dr. James Wilson would be a perfect father: he's currently dealing with a delinquent child in the form of Doctor Gregory House. Like a father talking to his troubled son, Wilson can be patient, reasonable and, where needed, stern and angry. While House tends to ignore Wilson in these moments, as children do with their parents, sometimes the messages get through. So, if this can work on a middle-aged doctor it should work even better on a little boy or girl.
Dean Winchester of 'Supernatural' -- The older of the Winchester brothers, Dean has literally gone to Hell and back to keep his brother Sam safe. If that doesn't have the makings of a good father, then I don't know what does. As a bonus, he'll take care of those peskly monsters hiding in his son or daughter's closet or under their bed with due haste.Last, and definitely not least...
Devon "Captain Awesome" Woodcomb of 'Chuck' -- Because, well, he's just awesome! And loving and caring and mentoring and just an overall nice guy. He Just needs to make sure that his son or daughter doesn't ask him to keep a secret as it will eat him up inside for all eternity. What other characters do you think would make good fathers? Let us know.
