Mary SteenburgenMary Steenburgen is officially the first actor cast in the new FX drama, 'Outlaw Country,' according to Deadline.com. The pilot is described as a "crime thriller/family drama" set in Nashville and involving southern organized crime.

The show will have a musical element, not surprising given its setting, and Steenburgen is reported to sing in the role. Shooter Jennings, son of Waylon Jennings, is also reportedly on board as an executive consultant and music supervisor.

Earlier this year, Steenburgen co-starred in the pilot for the sitcom 'Southern Discomfort,' which also starred Don Johnson and Sophia Bush of 'One Tree Hill.' ABC declined to pick up the pilot.

Steenburgen has been no stranger to country music lately; she's co-starring in the upcoming indie film 'Dirty Girl,' with Juno Temple, Milla Jovovich and William H. Macy. Country stars Dwight Yoakum and Tim McGraw are also in the film, which Variety reports is about a girl who runs away from home in Oklahoma in 1987.

Steenburgen also recently returned to 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' to play herself.
