Richard Dean Anderson to Guest on 'Facing Kate'

Richard Dean Anderson is returning to primetime. Sorta. Well, definitely, but not in the show you're thinking. No, not in that one, either.

The 'Stargate-SG 1' and 'MacGyver' star will have a recurring role in the upcoming USA series 'Facing Kate,' according to Fancast.com.

Anderson, who has popped up in a guest gig on several episodes of the 'SG-1' spin-off series 'Stargate Universe' this season, will appear in at least five episodes of 'Facing Kate,' a drama starring 'The L Word' and 'Life' star Sarah Shahi as Kate Reed, an A-list lawyer who quits her job to become a professional mediator.

The former Angus MacGyver will play a mysterious charmer named David Smith, who meets up with Kate after the death of her father and proves to be much more intertwined with her family than initially believed.

Also starring in 'Kate,' which is currently filming in Vancouver: Ken Howard ('The White Shadow'), 'Stargate Universe's' Patrick Gilmore, 'Castle' and 'Battlestar Galactica' actor Michael Trucco and 'Brotherhood' and big-screen star Ethan Embry.

Meanwhile, with his '80s TV brethren like 'The A-Team,' 'Magnum P.I.' and 'The Smurfs' getting big-screen do-overs, Anderson, who is also a former daytime soap hunk ('General Hospital'), may be a part of the 'MacGyver' flick that's being penned by 'Swing Vote' and 'Bangkok Dangerous' writer Jason Richman.

The movie, in development for a 2013 release by New Line, has been kicking around Hollywood for years, and is going forward despite the recent lackluster box office performance of the 'Saturday Night Live'-based 'MacGyver' spoof movie 'MacGruber.'

Any suggestions for who should play primetime TV's all-time most resourceful dude when he hits the big screen?
