The Stars of 'Memphis Beat' Talk Singing, Policing & Shooting in New Orleans (VIDEO)

'Memphis Beat'When you get asked to go to New Orleans for work, you say yes. How could anyone pass up an opportunity to visit such an amazing town? The stars of TNT's new show 'Memphis Beat' must agree with me -- contrary to the show's title, they're busy shooting in the Big Easy.

I hit the set of the show on the absolute perfect day: they were filming a birthday party scene at a bar in Algiers that's been used in movies like 'Ray' and other series like 'Treme.' The atmosphere was festive and the cast -- including Jason Lee, Alfre Woodard, DJ Qualls, Sam Hennings, Abraham Benrubi and Leonard Earl Howze -- and creators Joshua Harto and Liz Garcia took the time to sit down and give me all kinds of fun scoop on the show.

Take a look at the interviews to find out more about 'Memphis Beat,' which Lee sums up perfectly as "a downhome southern cop show," before it premieres (Tues., June 22, 10PM ET on TNT).

Hello Carolyn

I love this show but really wondered if Jason (Dwight) actually does his singing?

Love this show. Hope they bring it on more often. I know it is a summer series, but really like it well enough to have it year around. Belinda

I loved Jason Lee on "My Name is Earl". I saw him tonight and it was great to see him play another character. My cats names are Elvis and Priscilla. Am I not going to love this show? Thank you for creating this and using the KING. The show was great. I love that the violence and gore of other cop shows wasn't here. I don't know how those other shows are allowed on TV. Elvis lives on Memphis Blue.
Thank you, thank you very much.
