'Bachelor' Break-Up: Jake and Vienna Call It Quits

by Laura Prudom, posted Jun 23rd 2010 10:40AM
Jake Pavelka and Vienna GirardiUnless you suffered a tragic all-day power outage in the past 24 hours and were cruelly separated from the Internet, you've probably already heard that hunky Texan pilot Jake Pavelka (last season's 'Bachelor') and his bride-to-be Vienna Girardi have officially broken off their engagement, adding them to the long list of 'Bachelor' and 'Bachelorette' couples who couldn't go the distance.

Speculation is still running rampant amongst bloggers and tabloids regarding the true cause of the split; TMZ can't quite decide whether Jake dropped Vienna over suspicions that the Floridian daddy's girl was stepping out on him with 'Greek' star Gregory Michael, or if Vienna gave up on Jake for being a "fame whore" -- ouch. And I thought everyone who appeared on a reality dating show just wanted to live quiet, drama free lives ...

But now, our distinguished sister site, PopEater, has scoop from Star Magazine that claims Vienna wasn't just tired of Jake's showboating, she was tired of the lack of action in the bedroom too!

More juice after the jump ...

In what looks to be the most trashy of tell-all interviews, Vienna reveals to Star that she and Jake "haven't been intimate in months" and that Jake refused to show her any emotion or attention unless they were "on a red carpet or if cameras are there ... Besides that, I have to ask for a kiss."

She also slams our 'Bachelor's' bedroom prowess, dishing that Jake gave her constant excuses to avoid getting their freak on. Hmm ....

Meanwhile, Jake told paps at LAX that he's "saddened by the whole thing," but that he and Vienna will always remain friends. We're guessing the pilot will change his flightplan after he reads what his alleged lady love has been saying about him in the press.

The split, which TMZ are already hyperbolically referring to as "the break-up of the century" (lest we forget, Britney and Justin, Brad and Jen, Bennifer 1.0) should come as a shock to precisely no-one, considering that only four 'Bachelor/ette' love matches are still going strong today out of 20 seasons.

And what of current 'Bachelorette' Ali? Had the planets aligned differently, it might have been Ali vs. Vienna in the showdown for Jake's heart, and our money would've been on Ms. Fedotowsky for the win. Their genuine chemistry (or as genuine as chemistry can be on a reality show) and mutual affection seemed much more solid than Vienna's spoiled little rich girl routine. But alas, Ali's job got in the way, and got her a turn as the 'Bachelorette' instead.

Would she consider taking Jake back now that Vienna's canoodling with a frat boy? Not according to E!Online; apparently Ali told them, "I've made a decision to move forward in my life. [Taking Jake back] just wouldn't be fair to the guys here, and it took some time, but I'm healed and moved on from Jake."

But moving on from Jake doesn't necessarily mean moving on to one of her own bachelors -- speculation abounds that Ali might not choose anyone when her 'Bachelorette' season wraps up, and while Roberto and Chris L. look like front-runners right now, is it possible that Ali might decide that the connection isn't there with any of her potential suitors?

Thankfully, there's little chance of Ali doing a Jake and falling for her own version of Vienna (the controversial Justin 'Rated R' Rego, who has proved a lightning rod in the 'Bachelorette' house), if next week's promos are to be believed, but it'll be another few weeks before we get to the final rose ceremony and see whether Ali takes the plunge with any of her (arguably lackluster) guys.

After all, it's better to take things slow than to let a little thing like a network TV camera crew and a free engagement ring force a rushed decision; Jake and Vienna are proof of that.

Do you think an Ali and Jake reunion is on the cards, despite what Ali says? Is Jake a "fame whore" or do you think Vienna really was cheating on her man? Do you give a damn at all, or would you rather all these fake relationships disappeared from our screens altogether? Sound off below!

vienna was in it for the fame and exposure nothing more. jake already had all of this and had he listened to all the warnings from other people [who read through vienna from the get go] he wouldn't be in this position of having to defend himself.

What do you expect????? It's a bad scripted boring t.v. show trying to make all the petty grap a real meaningful t.v. event of the century. I have trouble going to sleep at night but this show does the trick for me, better than sleeping pills !
Jake only needs to go back to acting school for more crying workshops but I think he needs to keep his day job. He may be cute but as soon as he opens his mouth, or starts to fake cry, he is not all that cute. Appearance isn't everything !!!! and somebody should tell Jake that. The man is totally in love with himself and it's no wonder why he doesn't care who he hurts, as long as he reaches his life goal.... in becoming a famous media whore. It's a good thing Jake has something to fall back on. He should request a bigger mirror for his airplaine bathroom. That would make him smile,.... and he does have a nice smile !

Jake is your typical small man with a small you-know-what and he has to be rude and disgusting to a woman to make his you-know-what feel bigger. She's lucky to be rid of him. I was married to one like him and it's a hard job that no woman wants.

I'm sorry for the whole mess. i thought Jake was a good guy and picked the wrong girl. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and I finally accepted
his decision and supported it. What I saw last night
and I now think Jake is a bully and not suited for
Vienna at all, they are like oil and water. She clearly bugs him to death and she is not getting from him what she wants and needs. Not a suited match. He is impatient with her and clearly does not
like her anymore. I can see how her feeling would
change too. Who wants to live with a control freak
who wants to be a movie star. I'm not sure that is in the cards for him. I think he is cute and charming but to big of a ham for me and not a gueniune person kinds of a big cute fake. sorry Jake
I was on your side for months but now, I'm just
surprised you did not cry on the show. bo ho bo ho

Jake wanted love and marriage...he should have chosen Tenley...she would have made him the perfect wife. He was in lust with Vienna. I noticed they did not show Jake's dad talking with Vienna..but he seemed to adore Tenley.

It is all so addicting, sorry to say! I know exactly why Jake chose Vienna...he needed a little "naughty girl" action! But apparently that didn't work out, what a surprise! Who came up with these shows, anyway?!? What could possibly be next, given the crazy stuff that networks are throwing our way?

I think you're all wrong about Jake, Its not him that wanted the spot light it was Vienna. Im almost positive that she pushed him to do Dancing With the Stars. Jake seems like a real gentleman and wanted nothing more then to be in love. And yes we all want a little naughty in our lives behind closed doors. But I think he might have had suspicions about who she really was and then it all came to light. WE all hope to change the one we care about and I think thats what he thought he could do for her.

I think Jake proved to be fake as soon as he did dancing with the stars. He was and is out for the spot lights and wants more than his 15 minutes. I think Ali is too good for him and is better off. I believe that Vienna is native even though she seems to have the sex-pot reputation. I think she really did love Jake and wanted the relationship. I do not think they were well matched at all. I do think Jake is single for a reason. He is not at all loyal or truthful. He is out for himself

You know he should have picked Tenley. But he let his d**k make the final decision. So much for his lifetime of happiness!

I believe that Jake was a good actor. He had all of us believing that he was really looking for true love. It was obvious when he was on dancing with the stars that he was in it for the fame. He showed his true self when he was on there. Vienna and Jake were ill matched from the start. It was only a matter of time that they would break up. He is so phony that you can see right through him.
