You oughta know... that Alanis Morissette and Jennifer Jason Leigh are both returning to 'Weeds' this season.

The two season 5 guest stars will be back for brief visits in season 6. According to Entertainment Weekly's Ausiello Files blog, Leigh will return for one episode as Jill, older sister to Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker). Morissette, who played Nancy's obstetrician, Audra, will be back for two episodes. Both characters hooked up with Nancy's brother-in-law, Andy (Justin Kirk), last season -- he had a fling with Jill and a more serious relationship with Audra.



We've already learned some spoilers about the new season, which begins August 16 on Showtime. We know that Nancy will find herself in Seattle, where she meets a fellow marijuana grower, an environmentally conscious lesbian played by Linda Hamilton. We know that Nancy will have a love interest, a bar owner played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar.

We also know that Andy will get a job as a dishwasher, where he'll clash with his German boss, a Gordon Ramsay-tempered chef played by Peter Stormare. And we know that Elizabeth Perkins will not be returning to play Nancy's frenemy Celia.

In fact, the season 6 trailer implies that the whole series is getting a reboot, with Nancy shown burying objects from her past (including a cell phone with an unanswered message from drug lord husband Esteban and the croquet mallet with which her son Shane bludgeoned her rival Pilar in the final moments of season 5.

We're guessing that Nancy's efforts to leave her troubles behind will only get her into deeper trouble. As Morissette would say, how ironic.
