There's a Red and Blue State of Affairs on 'Top Chef' (VIDEO)

Togetherness can be a virtue -- but not necessarily on 'Top Chef' (Wed., 9PM ET on Bravo).

The show welcomed assistant White House chef Sam Kass to host an unusual challenge that caused an uproar in the kitchen.

Host Padma Lakshmi laid out the ground rules. "A successful government is bipartisan," she said. "So you'll be competing in a 'Top Chef' bipartisanwich" contest. But there was one more thing -- double aprons, meaning contestants had to pair up, with each using only one hand.

"I suggest you leave your egos at the door, forget about taking credit, and just get to work," Kass said. Kinda like Congress?
