Debbie Gibson to Fight Tiffany in New Syfy Movie (Best News Ever?)

by Chris Jordan, posted Jun 24th 2010 1:20PM
They battled on the pop charts in the '80s, and now, they're set to fight on Syfy.

Debbie, er, Deborah Gibson and Tiffany will duke it out in an upcoming original Saturday-night movie called 'Mega Python vs. Gatoroid,' according to the Live Feed.

In the movie Gibson, who has performed on Broadway and London's West End, is an animal-rights activist who frees exotic snakes into the Everglades, where they grow to mega sizes. Tiffany is an overzealous park ranger who uses dangerous methods to save endangered alligators. (Naturally, the battle takes place in a swamp.)
Gibson previously starred in Syfy's 'Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus' in 2009 with Lorenzo Lamas. Tiffany was featured in the channel 's 'Mega Piranha,' which drew a nice 2.2 million viewers when it debuted in April.

As for their pop past, Gibson emerged from the suburbs of Long Island as a teen in 1987 to sing a string of pop, hits including 'Only in My Dreams,' 'Shake Your Love' and 'Foolish Beat.' Shortly after Gibson hit it big, Michigan teen Tiffany emerged with a top-selling version of the Tommy James and the Shondells 'I Think We're Alone Now' and a mall tour that drove teen audiences wild.

The two will have fun with their supposed rivalry on the SyFy movie.

"I know that pop culture fanatics have been dying for Tiffany and me to collaborate for the past 24 years!" Gibson said in a statement. "What better way to do it than by battling each other in a campy romp through the Everglades?"

Tiffany concurs.

"Only in my dreams have I been able to have a catfight with Debbie Gibson ... until now!' Tiffany said. 'This is soo MEGA cool!"

Shooting begins this month and the movie should air next year.

Sadly, the SyFy channel doesn't live up to its' potential. Quality is often lacking. They seem to use loud noises and dark screens as ubstitute for good writing and good acting far too often and story lines are usually weak.

so they are gonna duke it out. I wanna know how a snake can grow from say 6 inches long to mega size of over 40 feet in a year in the everglades during an oil spill? Sounds like a fake movie. If the cat fight shows some boobs and crotch then I guess it will sell.

I love "Eureka" on SyFy. I am a little worried from the commercials that it may "jump the shark" this season. I hope the writers don't ruin this show, I have loved it from the start! I also can find some entertaining B-rated movies at times. I have found that their newer movies are all "giant" something or other and way worse than B-rated. SyFy needs to get back to doing some entertaining and get off the giant-man-eating-carnivor waggon.

Wow, a "catfight" between Debbie Gibson and Tiffany....will be fun to watch, especially since I liked both of them in the 80's. I will keep my eyes on this one.

Beavis and Butt-head once suggested this match. Guess they were ahead of their time..or something.

Well, one more reason SYFY is going down for the 3rd time. The only noteworthy thing they have done was Tin Man, after that, everything else has reeked.

Sorry but if I want to watch divas fight I can just tune in to monday night raw, courtesy the WWE and see the same thing

Alert me when they have a duel using real ammo, because anything short of these has-beens and never -beens offing each other for real.... is not worth any normal person's time!
