Debbie Gibson to Fight Tiffany in New Syfy Movie (Best News Ever?)
They battled on the pop charts in the '80s, and now, they're set to fight on Syfy.Debbie, er, Deborah Gibson and Tiffany will duke it out in an upcoming original Saturday-night movie called 'Mega Python vs. Gatoroid,' according to the Live Feed.
In the movie Gibson, who has performed on Broadway and London's West End, is an animal-rights activist who frees exotic snakes into the Everglades, where they grow to mega sizes. Tiffany is an overzealous park ranger who uses dangerous methods to save endangered alligators. (Naturally, the battle takes place in a swamp.)
Gibson previously starred in Syfy's 'Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus' in 2009 with Lorenzo Lamas. Tiffany was featured in the channel 's 'Mega Piranha,' which drew a nice 2.2 million viewers when it debuted in April.
As for their pop past, Gibson emerged from the suburbs of Long Island as a teen in 1987 to sing a string of pop, hits including 'Only in My Dreams,' 'Shake Your Love' and 'Foolish Beat.' Shortly after Gibson hit it big, Michigan teen Tiffany emerged with a top-selling version of the Tommy James and the Shondells 'I Think We're Alone Now' and a mall tour that drove teen audiences wild. The two will have fun with their supposed rivalry on the SyFy movie.
"I know that pop culture fanatics have been dying for Tiffany and me to collaborate for the past 24 years!" Gibson said in a statement. "What better way to do it than by battling each other in a campy romp through the Everglades?"
Tiffany concurs.
"Only in my dreams have I been able to have a catfight with Debbie Gibson ... until now!' Tiffany said. 'This is soo MEGA cool!"
Shooting begins this month and the movie should air next year.
