Valerie Bertinelli Films Talk Show Pilot

by Rich Keller, posted Jun 24th 2010 11:20AM
A new talk show hosted Valerie Bertinelli (pictured with finance Tom Vitale) may replace 'As The World Turns' come September.Competition is heating up for the timeslot that will be vacated when the CBS daytime soap opera 'As The World Turns' ends it long run in September. The newest entry: a talk show co-hosted by Valerie Bertinelli.

According to 'Broadcasting & Cable,' CBS Television Distribution filmed a pilot last month for 'Say It Now' (working title), as a possible replacement for the soap.

A live and daily talk show, the pilot was co-hosted by Bertinelli, who is currently starring in the TV Land sitcom 'Hot in Cleveland' and has a development deal with CTD, and Rove McManus, who hosts a popular talk show in Australia. No other information was given about the show's content or if a live audience would be involved in the program.
'Say It Now' isn't a clear lock to replace 'ATWT,' as it is one of many shows currently vying for the soap's timeslot. Competitors include remakes of classic game shows 'Pyramid' and 'Password' and a 'View'-style show that would star Julie Chen, Leah Remini, Holly Robinson Peete and Sharon Osbourne.

No word from CBS when a decision will be made.

If CBS revives any game show after the success
of Let's Make A Deal, trying to pit the revamped
Regis Philban hosted Password against Drew Carey's
The Price Is Right might not work in the daytime
unless they bring it back to a Super Password format,
as formerly hosted by Burt Convy from 1984 to 1989.
Therefor, Pyramid starring John Davidson again with
Johnny Gilbert as the announcer should replace
As The World Turns on the schedule, and bring back
the old school game show era, because we all need it.
I couldn't picture a black person hosting Pyramid,
and likewise, I couldn't picture Password in the
$1 million format for daytime television, so I hope
CBS decides to bring one, or possibly both back,
and not try to mess with any of the classic formulas.

Totally agree about Sharon Osbourne she wouldn't even have a name if not for her husband. Susan Boyle has more class in her pinky than Sharon does in her whole hateful body.

Regardless of how she acts as a guest, I wouldn't watch a talk show where Bertinelli was the host. That goes double for Sharon Osbourne...haven't we seen enough of this no-talent British foul mouth? Who would to be bothered with her after she ripped apart Susan Boyle for no apparent reason other than to be nasty.

I like Valerie Bertinelli, but after AS THE WORLD TURNS ends its run, my TV will go off after THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS until the evening shows I watch. CBS is cancelling a show watched by generations for yet another cheap to produce talk show! The only thing I hate worse is the cheesy daytime game shows. I hope the CBS daytime audience erodes even more when ATWT ends.
